Well, Shrimp Fest for 2013 has come and gone – one of the most anticipated events of the year here in lil’ San Felipe. It seems that most of the town ventures down to wander the Malecon until a decadent shrimp dish entices their appetite.
The Festival also makes for a giant welcome-back block party for all the snowbirds and part-time San Felipeans to get together with friends and celebrate the beginning of another season in San Felipe.
This year the San Felipe Triathlon was also held on Saturday Nov. 2nd, while the Shrimp Festival was on. Downtown streets were closed during the day for the athletic event, and then the focus switched back to the Festival later.
Tables were filled with groups sampling all sorts of ways to eat shrimp. Wrapped in bacon, speared on kabobs, drenched in cream cheese, in fresh ceviche, stuffed into peppers, battered in coconut and more. When you live in a town renowned for shrimp, you get to sample some highly creative, always delicious recipes.
You just can’t look at photos of the shrimps without feeling hungry. So there we have it, another Shrimp Festival come and gone. Were you here for it?
